There are some points of interest that called my attention on the Operation Global Rain site, and I want to present here why I believe they give, for the moment, not the “certain sound” this people needs.

But first, a NOTE: All over this topic, and in my Open Letter, I addressed Pastor Myers and not the OGR Staff, because I think he is the OGR’s engine. The interviews on 3ABN gave the impression that Elder Thom Garner is an associate, at best. I really like Pastor Thom; gave me a feeling of a solid, calm, competent, trustful person.

From now on, I will use "The Staff," because, as you’ve already seen, sometimes Elder Myers is taking our comments too personally, whereas our intentions were to discuss principles involved and not characters. He is a good brother, as valuable as every one of us, on a mission of great import. And in great danger, as every one of us.


Point One

In the main article posted on the front page, entitled „Operation: Global Rain,” in the first paragraph, the Staff put this:

„There were no keynote speakers, but rather a group of disciples pleading for nothing else but the outpouring of the latter rain.”

„Nothing else” means nothing else, and I am under the obligation to see what’s left out. When you mark with bold and underline, the intention is clear, meaning: No special message, no idea of any corporate sin, no intention to recognize the laodicean state and make confession, no interest in closing the great controversy, no idea of the cleansing of the sanctuary, nothing about our place as witnesses in a procces.

Yes, there is all over the site a strong call to repentance, but the kind of repentance for personal sins, the usual sins daily made and confessed, but not the kind of repentance good for the Day of Atonement.

For 120 years, we had GLOBAL SLUMBER of the worst kind. From this, we are called to jump right unto GLOBAL RAIN of celestial blessings. This won’t work, and not because God is unwilling, but because one cannot participate at the banquet, unless there is a wedding. What is the missing link? What stands between us and the wedding?

God is so merciful - we can choose from two options: GLOBAL CORPORATE REPENTANCE, or GLOBAL SHAKING.

A few words on each:

GLOBLAL SLUMBER: For the last 120 years, the Church get growing, fatter and fatter numerically, but spiritually in deep sleep. True, we’ve had many projects, campaigns, huge baptisms, and all the rest. Now we look back and see more and more that all were works-oriented programs, a kind of spiritual somnambulism entertained by a pre-programmed pattern of the Adventist psyche. The power of the Spirit was not in it. Christ was crucified for a long time, unsuspected or unrecognized, and thus unable to manifest Himself before the world through us.

GLOBAL CORPORATE REPENTANCE: The „angel” of the Church can make the continental shift of the ages, and turning back (repentence), as the True Witness suggests, in the time and place where Christ was crucified, pierced, in His attempt to give us the key to our denominational stalemate.

Let me use the terminology of OGR:

Imagine hundreds of Adventist pastors, administrators and employees, in the pulpits Sabbath morning, telling the sheep in the pews: „Brethren, I have something shocking to confess. We are in big trouble. As a Church, we have pierced our Elderly Brother at the time of the GC session in Minneapolis, 1888. From that time, we’re on our own, wandering in the wilderness of sin without hope. Brethren, I am guilty of this, and confess here before you and God that I have done nothing to search and find the truth, counting more on the official history than on the inspired record of the messenger of the Lord. O God, to us belongs confusion of face, to our presidents, to our scholars, and to our administrators, and to me, the least of Your servants, because we have sinned against Thee. Forgive, Lord, and forgive, brethren.”

Such confession will put Laodicea in shock instantly, and open the way for the greatest reconciliation of the ages, the Day of the Final Atonement for the living. This is recorded in Zechariah 12:10-13, where the people of God is presented as being in a real state of shock, caused by the realization of the unbelievable fact that we have PIERCED our own firstborn. The meaning here is, of course, our Firstborn. Only after this can happen Zechariah 13:1.

GLOBAL SHAKING: If the angel of the Church of Laodicea is not willing to do that, some members will go public, telling the Church our terrible deed in 1888, and our corporate responsibility for that lethal decision. Exactly like the disciples: „You, brethren, have crucified the Lord of glory! Please repent!”

EGW is describing here the shaking:

„I asked the meaning of the shaking I had seen and was shown that it would be caused by the straight testimony called forth by the counsel of the True Witness to the Laodiceans. This will have its effect upon the heart of the receiver, and will lead him to exalt the standard and pour forth the straight truth. Some will not bear this straight testimony. They will rise up against it, and this is what will cause a shaking among God's people” (EW 270).

Only after either one of these two options takes place, we can talk about the Latter Rain, global Latter Rain.
